1. Who we are
Shoktikonna is a leadership program for women building careers in the green energy transition. The fourth cohort is supported by the European Union in Bangladesh, German Development Cooperation and the World Bank, and implemented by GIZ Bangladesh and Devtale Partners (together, "we", "us" or "our").
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through www.shoktikonna.org and related forms, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us. When you apply to a cohort, download the applicant handbook, subscribe to updates, register for an event or contact us, we may collect:
- your name, mobile number, email address, organization or university, and location;
- education, work experience and other details you include in an application;
- essays, video responses, photos, documents, testimonials and stories you submit;
- any messages you send us.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our servers record basic technical data such as your browser type, device, pages visited and the date and time of your visit. We use this to keep the site secure and working well.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- review applications, select participants and run the program;
- send you the handbook, program updates and information about opportunities you asked about;
- connect eligible participants with mentors, internships and employers;
- report to our funding and implementing partners, and measure the program's results;
- tell the story of Shoktikonna through our website, social media, publications and the press;
- keep our website and systems secure, and meet our legal obligations.
4. Use of your submissions and content
By submitting any information, content or material through this website or our forms, including applications, essays, video responses, photos, testimonials, stories and form entries, you allow Shoktikonna, Devtale Partners and our program partners to use, store, reproduce, edit, translate and publish that content, internally and publicly, as and when applicable. This permission is non-exclusive, royalty-free and worldwide.
For example, we may use submissions in selection and program delivery, reports to partners and donors, research and evaluation, and communications such as our website, social media, publications, events and press materials. When we publish content publicly, we may credit you by name, cohort and institution.
We never publish your contact details, such as your mobile number, email address or home address.
By submitting content, you confirm that it is your own and that you have the right to share it, including permission from anyone else who appears in it. You can ask us to stop using a published testimonial or photo in future materials. We will make reasonable efforts to do so, but we cannot recall materials that have already been printed or shared by others.
5. Photos, videos and events
Our events, including summits, bootcamps, field visits and graduation ceremonies, may be photographed, filmed or live-streamed. By attending, you agree that images and recordings of you may be used as described in the section above. If you would prefer not to be photographed, please tell a member of the program team at the event.
7. Third-party services and links
Our website loads fonts from Google Fonts and embeds videos from YouTube. The YouTube player only loads after you press play. Links to social media and news websites take you to services with their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
9. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including program reporting to our partners. Application records are usually kept for up to three years after the cohort they relate to, unless a longer period is required for reporting, audit or legal reasons. Content published under our permission to use submissions may remain in our archives and materials.
10. Keeping information secure
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including restricted access to application data and form submissions. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Age requirement
Shoktikonna programs are for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information to us, please contact us and we will delete it.
13. International transfers
Because our partners and service providers operate in several countries, your information may be stored or processed outside Bangladesh. When this happens, we take steps to ensure it remains protected in line with this policy.
